Wordpress Amazon Associate Filter

UPDATE: This filter is now available via the Wordpress Plugin Directory. The latest version* will always be there: DOWNLOAD NOW.

By request, I've created a filter that will automatically add your Amazon Associate ID to all amazon links on your Wordpress blog.

Download v0.1 of Amazon Associate Filter here.

More details and installation instructions after the jump.

Amazon Associates Filter automatically adds your amazon associate id to all Amazon links in your posts and comments.

It does this AT DISPLAY TIME -- the original link will not be changed in the database.

This may result in slightly longer render times, but means all existing links will be converted as soon as
the plugin is activated.

To use:

1. Drop the extracted folder (amazon_ass) into your plugins directory
2. Activate the plugin from the plugins tab of the wp-admin menu
3. Enter in your Amazon Associate ID using the "Amazon Associate Config" subtab on the Options menu.

PLEASE NOTE: You MUST update your Amazon Associate ID in order to properly gain Amazon Associate credits.
If you do not have an Amazon Associates ID, you can get one here: http://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/join

If you experience any bugs, please alert me to them in the comments to this post. Thank you.

Thanks to Matt Haughey who graciously shared the regexes he used for www.metafilter.com

*I'm not sure there'll be another version unless someone asks for more features, but there you are.

Hey- I have this running on

Hey-

I have this running on http://blogs.legacyrecordings.com/podcast/ (a WPMU-powered blog) and it looks like its tagging all links whether they go to amazon or not with the suffix (i.e. if you mouseover the categories or the tags, it is appending the affiliate info)... maybe something is weird with the filter?

thanks

I haven't been able to

I haven't been able to replicate this bug, so I am going to assume this problem was due to unclosed tags until I can get more info. If anyone else is having a similar problem please let me know. Thanks!

I've uploaded the amazon

I've uploaded the amazon affiliate plug in and it appears in the plug in menu. I activated it.

Your instructions say to insert my affiliate code from the "options" menu, but I do not have an options menu.
The menu options from the plug-in management page are "plugins" and "plugin editor"

I am using wordpress, v. 2.5.1

How/where do I insert my affiliate code?

Thanks,
Nina!
